Hardcover

A hardcover, hard cover, or hardback book (also known as hardbound or case-bound) is one with rigid protective covers (usually made of binder’s board or strong paperboard coated in buckram or other cloth, heavy paper, or occasionally leather). When opened, the book has a flexible, stitched spine that allows it to lie flat on a surface. The pages of modern hardcovers may be bonded to the spine in the same way that paperbacks are.
